the good the bad in 2002
gosh its been a year already?!? whohooo who noticed? 12 freakin months of college slackin is over -- hello yuppie years! it would be a bane to make a summary of what happened this year --- am really not that type of person who'd go thru the pain of details. so here's a short list of the goods and the bads. plain and simple.

  • Survived college --- graduated with honors (gold medal for best practicum group) good
  • Won the best practicum award (we did it all those sleepless nights of making butterfly chairs paid off) good
  • Spider-Man --- big total dissaster (i was looking forward my ass for it) bad
  • Interned for L'Oreal --- am confused i'll consider this as a good or bad memory
  • Went to abroad with a friend --- coolness good
  • Freakin guy ditched a date for basketball game (the nerve of that guy, its your freakin loss) bad
  • DLSU lost to ATENEO (lets not debate on this) bad
  • I got a new phone good
  • Brash Young Cinema (thanks joey for opening your basement to striving artist and us wannabes :D. wishing this would be someone else's dream someday!) good
  • INDIEFILIPINO (no doubt about it, made a lot of great good friends. learned a million new things. discovered my hidden powers. naks thanks meg!) good
  • GAMENEVERENDING (you gave my life new meaning --- thanks eric for introducing us this wonderful game, stewart you'll always be a god to me... heehee) good
  • Baguio last hurrrah --- (thanks pyao for lending us your wonder ful 4 storey pad in baguio) good
  • Non-stop terrorist attacks and bombings bad
  • GREENBELT ART-FILM (thanks for opening my eyes, without you i would still be blind --- tho i know you still need more improvement) good
  • OASIS concert cancelled (damn terrorists!!!) bad
  • PeopleSupport (thanks for taking away my life, family, and friends --- money is not everything. but i really appreciate the way you introduced me to people who change and will still change my life for the better. cheers to batch 48!!! and the GY tech team. i owe you big time) good and bad
  • ARA MINA won best actress (hey does she know how to act? what is happening to our movie industry?) bad really bad

i know i don't remember them all so ill be posting more probably next year. but to wrap it up, it's been a good year even with all the economic downfall, hold-ups, terrorist attacks, attempts at war, and burning houses because of christmas. i'm still lucky to have food on the table, a warm cozy bed, and a roof on top of my head. i hope next year would be better for all of us. peace and love is all i wish for -- for myself and everyone. coz it all starts from within. if you don't have peace and love within you how the hell are you gonna give it?!?

    YEY! meg comes home
who says you can't party in the morning?
heehee yesterday around 7am the GY(graveyard) gang decided for a crash at con fusion (yes its two words), a bar that actually opens at 7am?!? and serves alcohol at 7am!!!. i've never been there might as well join them just to eat dinner breakfast... but after chowing down a cup of rice, 2 eggs, and 3 chorizos --- they handed me a bottle of san mig light. damn i have no intentions of getting drunk this early and around 8:30 i had an appointment with the company nurse and hr department. anyway after a stick and that glass of san mig light i went to the washroom to freshen up. to my surprise when i got back to our table somebody bought me another bottle. damn --- oh well its been a while since i had a drink, not to mention i really don't drink beer. so as courtesy i said thanks and gulped it all down --- yes bottoms up. dunno what i was doing before i knew it i'm a little bit tipsy. damn am gonna drive home! oh well ted was around to take me home if ever i can't drive. but the thing is most of them are drunk too. who wouldn't be after 6 pale pilsens? to think i just had 2 light beers. so after that almost puking moment i decided to head back to the office for my appointment. after calling someone from the house to pick the car up, I texted reliable benjo (who doesn't go to any gimmiks) to drop me off at G4. so instead of waiting for the driver to pick up the car and fetch me at G4, i decided to head to my stylist and get a new hair cut. yes the hair that i grew for months is now so short that you can hardly recognize me. well, unless you really know me that is. i love my do, its so great i even hugged my stylist after --- well i guess i was really that drunk. heehee. so the lesson here is don't drink and cut your hair at the same time.

    Merry Christmas!!!
Am gonna be rich... (approximately 5 years from now)
I started my boardgame collection when I was 6 (call it weird but really i didn't collect barbie dolls, i just had 2 barbies and 2 kens -- and they're just gifts). You can just imagine my toy closet full of junky boxes of milton bradley & parker brothers. Heehee well at least all my friends enjoyed visiting my house. Then I grew up, got tired of playing the same old games... thats about 26 boardgames not counting the ones I can no longer find in my closet (think a rat ate the whole thing up... ewwww) and started my CD collection. After 14 years greenbelt 3 was born, wow have you seen this shop selling mean boardgames... and i mean mean boardgames (they've got tons of it... not those cheap non-sense boardgames where you just roll the dice and move, but the party all night boardgames, they even have LORD OF THE RINGS) damn, it brings back all the memories of playing monopoly and ludo everyday. heehee, so after that encounter in G3, i opened up my toy closet and did an inventory. Then went for a research on the web. Heehee then I found out I own a collectors item... my MAD MAGAZINE GAME BOARD. They no longer make these babies. Hahaha. To think its still in good condition. I'm gonna be rich. Heehee

We will miss you, Joe Strummer
Yes, that seminal guitar crasher of the great band called CLASH, died Sunday at the age of 50. Well this is in my hopes that everyone knows the CLASH. If not the greastest, one of the greatest political punk rock band that ever lived. Thanks to my big old bro for introducing me to the only band that matters.

    wet wet wet
it's been 6 years since i last visited the wet market (and i mean almost seaside wet market that has no aircondition what so ever). that sticky wet mess under your 4 year old birks, that soothing aroma of sided beef and headless chicks, and that jumping fish you almost thought was dead. you just cant get enough. people all saying good morning even tho the sun wont be coming out for a few hours or so, blood all splattered on the floor, and that weird yet soothing sound of merchants hollering for merchandise. ahhhh the wet market. i will definitely wont come back in a million years.
whoa i just noticed that its only 3 more days till christmas.
    found it at last

    The Sweater

    Girls,
I know you will understand this
and feel the intrinsic incredible emotion
You have just pulled over your head the worn,
warm sweater belonging to a boy

Now, you haven't had a passionate kissing session or anything,
but you got to go on a camping trip with him
and eight other people from school
    And you practically slept together,
your sleeping bag right next to his

And you woke in the night to watch him as he slept
but you couldn't see anything 'cause it was dark
so you just laid there and listened to his breathing
and wondered if your heart might burst

The sweater has that faintly goat-like smell
    which all teenage boys possess,
and that smell will lovingly transfer
    to all your other clothes

If you get to keep it for a few days you can sleep with it
but don't let your mom see, 'cause she'll say,
"what is that filthy thing, and who does it belong to
    besides the trash man?"

So you have to keep it under the covers with you
You can kind of lie it beside you,
or wrap it around your waist,
or touch it on your legs, or whatever
    That's your business

Now if the sweater has, like, reindeer on it
or is a funny color like yellow... I'm sorry,
you can't get away with a sweater like that
Look for brown, or grey, or blue
Anything other than that, and you know you're dealing with
    someone who's different

And different is NOT what you're looking for
You're looking for those teenage Alpine ski-chiseled features
and that sort of blank look which passes for deep thought
or at least the notion that someone's home
You're looking for the boy of your dreams
who is the same boy in the dreams of all your friends

Now the sweater isn't going to fit you of course,
So if you just roll up the sleeves in a jaunty way
Saying "this is the sweater belonging to a boy and
is not just some hand-me-down from your
    brother or father"

    Monday, wear the sweater
    to school
    Be calm, look cute
Don't tell him about the dream you had
about the place the two of you would share
    when you get older
    Just be yourself
The best, cutest, quietest version of yourself
    Definitely wear lip gloss

He looks at you, and then he looks away
    And then he walks away
and the smell of the sweater hits you again suddenly
    like ape-scent gloriola
and you get a note passed to you
by a girl in History that says
    "He needs that sweater back.
He forgot you put it on in the tent on Saturday
and he's been looking for it."

And you don't have to die of humiliation, you know
    You are a strong person
and this is a learning experience
You can still hold your head up high as you run from the classroom
tearing the stinking sweater from your body
You've got a secret now, honey,
and though you'd never sink as low as him,
you could blab it all over the school if you wanted

    The label in that sweater
    said "100% Acrylic"

    Say What?!?
Yesterday my good ol partner in crime, VAL, official quit work (well after a week of no call no show) and passed her resignation letter. There were a lot of the hugs and kisses, melodramas, farewells and hopefully not last goodbyes. It was a really a sad day for us. No more crazy jokes at 3am, no more cranky phone calls, no more spam mail and no more snooping around your packed lunch. She was one of those few people really worth remembering. We've just been together for a month (2 weeks training, 2 weeks actual work) and it seemed like I've known her forever. I know a lot of people in the team feel the same way. She in some way made our lives different. Added something new. Damn this sounded like she died. Heehee. Anyway here's her sweet farewell note:

    - CARPE DIEM! -

    Dear GY (graveyard) Pipol,

No, I did not resign because of Mos (who actually started it ALL)!
I had to go soon because my condition has been affecting my performance and would not like to risk the team's as well. As I sit down infront of this work station for the last time, I realize the kind of attachment I learned to develop within my 2 weeks of working with incredible people like you. Not expecting that despite the neverending help questions I seek and the crazy things I do or say, letting go was as difficult as mine. I am but truly appreciative for the mark that you people left in my life.
Sa sandamakmak na pangugoodtime, kabuktutan, pag team-up kay Ka Mario, at inspirasyong naidulot... Maraming, Maraming Salamat! Patuloy ninyong papaikutin ang mundo ko!
So who says you're more than just a team?! I do!
Wishing you guys all the BEST this season and beyond!

PS. To all my mentors and the whole Tech Team as well... thank you for the patience and understanding!

    Luv y'all...mwah

    - VaL -

damn am definitely gonna miss her.

    trying so hard
i smoked 3 sticks over the weekend. after 2 weeks of abstaining (talk about will power). i feel so bad. very bad. max and i made a resolution not to smoke ever (hahaha this is hilarious). now am the first one to break it. i guess when you need it you really need it. and i really needed it so bad. sorry max. =)
searching for that so called spirit of christmas
is it me or i just can't feel christmas like i used to. the magic is gone. the chills. the excitement. the glow. everything gone. not even the weather's helping. well probably it's this sucky depression everybody's getting into. i mean come on lets face it the economy's so bad. there's a big war that's about to happen, if it hasn't started. a house burned down killing 2 or three people because of christmas decorations. a woman threw herself off the building because her husband won't come home this christmas. you can hardly see lanterns or puto bungbong stands. i really feel sorry for the kids of today. christmas is no longer that great big holiday of cheer (well for me, i have to work on christmas eve) its much more of a regular day with ham and cheese on the table. then maybe it's just me growing old.

A New Hope --- hehehe Star Wars
today marks the last day of the 4 month alpha test for Gameneverending. a new version, "wipe out", will be up and running 12 am tomorrow US eastern time. geez it felt like more than four months. it felt like we're living our whole lives in that game. we get to meet people. share lives. share sorrows. share happiness. we felt real in a make believe world. a world we thought was real for a while. but like anything real all must come to an end. and there's that new beginning.

    here's a note from a fellow friend:

    The Last Night by Plurp
It is my last night. My last night here in the world, my last night with these many friends, none of whom I have ever met.

What will I do on this last night? What can I do? It all seems to senseless, the monotonous striving for possessions, for wealth, for social status, knowing, now, that it will all be gone.

What is meaningful? What is lasting? What can we possibly do that will survive the inevitable and final end?

Or must we do anything that will survive? Is it enough simply to engage in these meaningless activities, simply to be here, without pretention to either meaning or permanence?

    i love picture trail!!!!

how we all get a little bit weird sometimes

another on the must see/must have dvd (if ever i get a copy of it).

I just finished watching Cannibal Holocaust with ayna, mike and kirby (the wonderful weekend graveyard shift). Boy was it interesting (as what kirby qouted). it was banned almost everywhere. simply extraordinary. i never seen anything like it, and i probably won't see anything like it again. bravo! definitely get myself a copy and make more copies to give everyone.

    here's a good review

    i'm not a cat person
    got this from meg

    Take the Purrsonality Quiz!

According to the test: Sphynxes are a very interesting looking breed of cat (they are still cats- they were never interesting). Most people hate their guts coz well... they look like little rat-kitties XD The reason they look so funny is coz they have no fur! At least you don't have to worry about them shedding... i remember i almost died when mom adopted a persian cat. good thing she gave it away.

note: drew and flo has a thing goin. heehee good for them. i don't like krusty the clown so much.

    too much
the hell with tripod, geocities, 0catch and to the money hogging assholes! they all prohibited hotlinking. they freakin charge dollars for it. what happens to 3rd world countries who can't afford --- BITTER. damn. to think the internet should be free. now i need to buy mi-own host. darn. wish i had t1 at home too. arrrrgh. my pictures are all down. why is it that there's no such thing as free ride anymore.
    air up there
when we thought we were vulnerable up at the 29th floor. think again, we're safer up there. the pictures speaks for itself. these were taken around 7:30 in the morning. this is the air we breathe everyday. pity how we don't see everything down below.

the view's spectacular in the afternoon. we get this beautiful view of the sunset in manila bay. tho i don't see it anymore coz i work graveyard. damn!

    cold and shivering
it's sunday and i'm in the office shivering. yes on a bloody sunday. weird huh? well, i have mondays and tuesdays off. so have to work on weekends. at least there are less if no calls during weekends. giddy! that means i get more time to surf the net (no surf control on weekends), watch movies (just bring your own vcd), and sleep till my shifts over. told ya am starting to like this job. it's fun... really fun. tho it's freezing during weekends making all your fingers and toes blue. ewwww.
